"Dwelling in Revelation" :: Carlos Cedeño

In the book of Revelation, the author writes letters to seven different churches in Asia Minor, giving them instruction and encouragement to deal with the situations they were dealing with, all while asking the question, "What are you doing with the gift that God gave you in Jesus?"

This teaching is part of our 2023 series, "Dwell: Abiding in the Shelter of the Most High.” In 2023, we will take another journey through the Scriptures, looking for the God-sightings in each book and seeing how we can learn to dwell in God's presence.

In the books of Jonah and Micah, we meet prophets who were sent to different people groups, each with a message calling them to return to God. In Jonah, we find a man who is reluctant to deliver God's message and instead runs away, enduring calamity and trouble as a result. In the end we see that God calls us to serve all people and give our lives to lead them back to him.

"Dwelling in 1 & 2 Samuel" :: Carlos Cedeño

In Samuel, we see the story of two kings - Saul and David. Though both were anointed by God to lead the people of Isreal, their hearts took very different postures toward God leading to the downfall of one and the exaltation of the other. In the end, their reign, effectiveness, and longevity all came down to their heart. And it all comes down to the posture of our own hearts in our lives today.

"Dwelling in Ruth" :: Ashley Tirado

In Ruth, we see the story of a woman who was an outsider to the people of Israel, but when presented with a choice of where she wanted her life to go, she chose to dwell with a God who was not her own on account of the love and story of her mother-in-law. And that choice led her to situations where God was able to prove his goodness and caring for her, paving a path directly to Jesus.

"Dwelling in Joshua" :: Carlos Cedeño

In Joshua, the people of Israel have made it through their time of wandering in the wilderness and are preparing to enter the Promised Land. They have won their first battle and conquered the city of Jericho, but disobedience to Gods command leads to disaster in subsequent endeavors. As they deal with the consequences of their disobedience, they learn that God is more interested in who you are becoming than where are you going and that obedience is vital.

In Deuteronomy, God is leading his people through the wilderness and preparing them to enter the Promised Land. He encourages them to remain obedient to his laws and guidelines, and in doing so, their obedience will lead to blessings for them, their children, and their children's children.

"Dwelling in Leviticus" :: Debbie Schwartz

In the book of Leviticus, God sets up the priesthood amongst his people and delivers his law so that they can live in right standing with him. God directs them to establish the sacrificial system in order to provide a way for the forgiveness of sin. "Dwelling in Exodus" :: Carlos Cedeño

"Dwell: The Word for 2023" :: Carlos Cedeño

When you look at the scriptures from beginning to the end, it’s about God wanting to be with us. You see God’s Presence in the Garden, as a Pillar of Cloud and Fire, The Presence of God in the Tabernacle, The Presence of God walking on this Earth (Jesus), The Presence of God in Pentecost, and even the Presence of God in the Eternal State. You can see God’s presence through every single book of the Bible.

In 2023, we will take another journey through the Scriptures, looking for the God-sightings in each book and seeing how we can learn to dwell in the shadow of the Most High.
